A Tamil Nadu Government undertaking, SETC (State Express Transport Corporation) operates long distance express services connecting all major cities, districts, commercial towns and capital cities, historical and religious places in the state of Tamil Nadu and the adjoining states of Andhra Pradesh and Pondicherry. The corporation was specially formed to operate long distance buses exceeding 250 kilometers.
Having more than 900 buses in their fleet, the corporation offers almost all kinds of bus services including ordinary, sleeper, semi-deluxe, deluxe, super-deluxe, video coach, airbus and ultra-deluxe buses. Transporting more than one lakh passengers everyday, it provides its customers with safe and comfortable journey.
The corporation also runs special buses during festival seasons in order to offer more convenience and comfort to the passengers and tourists. The corporation has ticket counters in all major cities including Tirupathi, Bangalore, Ernakulam, Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Nagapattinam, Palani, Pollachi, Salem, Tindivanam, Tirunelveli, Trichy, Koyambedu, Thiruchendur and Chennai.
The corporation has received several awards including ‘Best Performance in Vehicle Productivity’, ‘Winner Trophy Minimum Operational Cost’, ‘Highest Performance in Vehicle Productivity’ and ‘Improvement in Tyre Performance’.
SETC itself does not support online bus ticket booking itself. You need to visit SETC ticket counters in person to book the tickets. The reservation time starts from 7 am and continues till 9 pm. Along with this, reservation is to be done 30 days in advance.
